Description

Combi blinds, also known as zebra shades, uses dual layers of horizontal fabric segments alternating between sheer and semi-opaque or opaque fabrics. It can be set to open where vanes between the two layers are aligned or closed to cover the sheer portion. Or they can be complete rolled up into the headrail. Provide view-through and visual privacy. Shades block up to 99% of UV rays when closed.

For Inside Mount:

• Use a steel measuring tape.
• Measure window opening size WIDTH in three places: Top, Middle, Bottom. The smallest width will be used.  Provide measurements in inches rounded to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
• Measure window opening size HEIGHT in three places: Left, Middle, Right. The longest height will be used.  Provide measurements in inches rounded to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
• For inside mount – Take the ACTUAL WINDOW OPENING SIZE and subtract approximately 1/4 of an inch of the window width to fit into that opening.
• Measure window DEPTH of flat surface for mounting the blind or shade. We recommend min. depth 2 inches or more in order to fit to inside mount.
• Check any additional details such as protruding handles, window direction and determine your cord position.
• DOUBLE-CHECK all measurements.

For Outside Mount:

• Use a steel measuring tape.
• Measure window opening size WIDTH in three places: Top, Middle, Bottom. The smallest width will be used.  Provide measurements in inches rounded to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
• Measure window opening size HEIGHT in three places: Left, Middle, Right. The longest height will be used.  Provide measurements in inches rounded to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
• For outside mount, Add 1 to 2 inches extra for the width and 4 inches (Cassette size 3” + Bottom bar 1”) for the length to cover your window frame.
• Check any additional details such as protruding handles, window direction and determine your cord position.
• DOUBLE-CHECK all measurements.

Two options for Headrail Cassette Valance:

For Default, there are 2 headrail cassette sizes which depends on Height specified.

– Small headrail cassette: Depth = 2-3/4″, Height = 2-1/2″ (for product height 60 inches or less)

– Regular headrail cassette: Depth = 3-3/8″, Height = 3″

What’s the difference between Trendy Blinds Combi Shades vs. other Zebra Shades?

We work in partnership with the South Korea manufacturer who invented the Combi Shades and owned the original patent.  We continue to source only the highest quality fabrics and components from South Korea.

Fabrics:

– Environmentally friendly – no VOC – safe for kid rooms.

– Banding sizes are very consistent (within + or – 1/16th of an inch).  We can specify SIDE-BY-SIDE – so multiple shades on wall-to-wall windows will have bands that line up.

– fabrics are highly uniform in colour and texture.  Lower quality fabrics from China and elsewhere have blotches and uneven threading patterns.

Components:

– Headrail, bottom bar, end caps, cords and safety handles are available in a wide range of colours to coordinate with shade fabric.

– All metal parts except for screws and brackets are made of aluminium – lightweight and will not rust.

– Square, Curved and even Round (for our deluxe line) headrail shapes are available.

– Option for no fabric for headrail valance for a more modern look.

– We use Channel tubes, which are stronger so no bowing in the middle of the shades.  Bowing causes excess waviness of the shade.

Assembly:

Fabrics are mechanically attached to the tube through a slot channel in the tube.  (The cheaper method is just adhesive tape to stick fabric to tube surface.) What this means for the product is:

a) It will unlikely disconnect from the hardware and fall down.

b) Allows us to do “Close when down” setting.  “Closed when down” means that when the shade is rolled down to the bottom of the window, the Combi shade is in a closed position.  This is particularly important for Room Darkening applications.

c) We always provide more  for the height so that the tube will not be exposed and visible to users.
